The phrase “Any Trail, Any Time“ was coined a few years back to describe the Genius series. The all NEW Genius 720 Plus makes that phrase ring even truer. Adding plus sized wheels to what is already one of the most capable rigs on the market ups the level of traction, comfort, and most importantly fun hogging. Sporting an Alloy frame, the 720 comes in at a lower price point. Rocks, roots and boosts beware, this bike is ready to rumble.

While competitors have introduced the wider 3.0" tire width, SCOTT engineers found out that 2.80" is the optimum for Plus to guarantee best handling and to avoid the walking effect. Based on Schwalbe's testing data, the size of the contact patch of a 2.80" tire (Nobby Nic) is increased by 21% compared to a 2.35" tire (Nobby Nic). Tested with standard tire pressure (1.7 bar/2.35" vs. 1.0 bar /2.80"), the test indicates significantly better traction for the Plus sizes.

Please note: Due to high demand, lead times on this model are slightly longer than usual. We expect to dispatch within about 5 working days.

Ready to ride
Every bike from Start Fitness is fully checked & assembled before despatch and will arrive, almost, ready to ride. Each bike is assembled by one of our CyTech accredited mechanics and then packed into one of our custom boxes. Minimal assembly, with basic tools, is required before you can ride. Assembly tools are not usually included. More details can be found here.
Please note: Some bikes are not supplied with pedals. Manufacturers don’t know if you want flat or clipless pedals, rather than send the bike with the wrong type, they leave the choice for you to make.
This process has a lead time of around 2-3 working days
Unfortunately during peak times this may be slightly delayed. We will however, aim to despatch your bike as quickly as possible.
Making sure you are home
Once fully checked and boxed, we will contact you to book a delivery date. Our bikes are despatched on a next working day service (excludes weekends & bank holidays) for UK mainland orders, or a two day service to Northern Ireland and outlying Scottish areas. European bike deliveries usually take approximately one week.
Taking Delivery
Any mechanical or cosmetic issues need to be reported to us within one week of the delivery date. If you do not plan on using the bike straight away, we advise that you remove it from the box and check it over ASAP as we cannot be responsible for any reported issues (other than standard warranty issues) later than one week from the date that the bicycle was delivered.
First Check-Over
After a few weeks of riding (depending on riding style and conditions), a new bike will need a check-over to make final adjustments and to re-check all nuts and bolts. This is necessary as the bike goes through a ‘bedding in’ phase after which, final adjustment may be necessary. We recommend that this is carried out by a CyTech qualified mechanic. It is important to have these checks carried out to prevent any avoidable problems which may not be covered by warranty and to ensure the smooth running of the bicycle.
We can carry out the first check-over free of charge, at our Newcastle store (NE16JE). If you’ve had the bike delivered, it will be your responsibility to get the bicycle to and from our store for this work to be carried out. This complimentary check-over does not include any labour to replace worn parts or to fit new accessories.
All bikes must be booked in for the first service & must be clean or a £15 cleaning charge will be payable. You can book this by calling 0191 261 4191. Proof of purchase will need to be presented when the bicycle is dropped off for the first check-over.
Bike Servicing
Bicycles need to be serviced regularly, as a guideline we would advise on at least one full service per year and/or a standard service twice a year. If the bike is used regularly in adverse conditions, more regular servicing may be required.

Customer Reviews

great trail-fully for beginners, best value for the price Review by Rinat
I'm a beginner in this sport and more than satisfied with this bike. Trails that I wouldn't have dared to ride with my old hard-tail are just fun with this one. It keeps you steady on the track, it is forgivable with beginners mistakes in terms of body positioning and keeping a clean line. For advanced riders I think it's a bit to heavy,
Still, I enjoy this bike very much. Can't wait for the next season. The price with 50% discount was more like a gift. The dispatch took a while due to an understandable huge order situation. Transport to Germany was fast and without damages.
Thanks startfitness team (Posted on 11/11/2017)

A great bike for a very nice price Review by Björn
It was a bit longer delivery time than expected, but the bike was in good shape packed well and easy to assemble. Quick response from support on email questions. I rode it a few times now and improved a lot on trail path with this FS bike compared with my HT. I will come back to start fitness for more shopping. (Posted on 02/11/2017)
A great mountain bike Review by Tommi
Before I bought this bike, I didn't have any plans of getting a new bike. I have always ridden a 29" hardtail mtb and after one earlier test ride, I never considered a bike with 27,5+ wheels an option for me. A riding buddy of mine got himself a Scott Genius 27,5+ and I tried it once for about half a mile. That test ride completely changed my mind. Two or three days later I ordered a Scott Genius from Start Fitness. It was on sale, with a 50 percent price reduction, so it was a real bargain.

This was my first full-suspension bike, so I don't have much to compare it to, but the bike has made it possible for me to ride down places I never thought I would ride. So it has opened a new world for me within mountain biking. The bike rolls incredibly well. In many reviews in the internet you can read how Schwalbe and Scott have measured that 2.8" wide plus tyres have only 2 % higher rolling resistance than regular size tyres...Well in my tests Scott Genius with plus tyres (1.1/1.2 bar front/rear) rolls much better than my old bike, or any bike of my friends that I have been riding with these past six weeks after the delivery of Scott.

I love Scott's adjustable suspension and use it all the time. The suspension and wider tyres provide great grip in conditions where I earlier needed walk my hardtail. All in all, I'm very, very happy with this bike and its quality. I do have some criticism, however. The dropper post of X-Fusion is just crap. After about three rides I had to replace the remote cable with a good quality cable, because the cable just wouldn't move and the post became inoperable. Even after fixing the remote there is not much good to say about the post...well, it goes down pretty nicely now that the remote cable is ok, with the help of my 100 kg mass. Getting the seat up is always a pain. Very, very slow, and it never comes up to maximum height at once, so I must lift my butt for a second time and press the remote again to get the seat to normal riding height. Clearly, this was a wrong choice for a bike of this caliber. My bike is 2016 model, so I hope Scott has wisened up in newer models.

The one thing where Scott Genius is worse than my previous bike is ground clearance. I ride on a number of rocky trails which is now more difficult. The fact that there is no bash guard in the bike makes riding rocky terrain a bit of a problem. After the 6th ride I had to change the larger chainwheel after it broke and install a bashguard. I think Scott should install one when they make the bike, it doesn't make sense that they don't.

So, five stars for price, value and quality, in spite of some criticism.

Amazing! Review by Victor
“Any Trail, Any Time“! This is absolutely write regarding this fantastic MTB!

Nothing to say but wouaouhhhh!!!! (Posted on 16/10/2017)
Fantastic value and service Review by Martin
I've been looking for a bike but everything I liked was either discontinued or too expensive. This one ticks all boxes. I was dubious about the plus tyres because of what I've read but two long rides in soggy conditions, rocky and road sections, they're great. Love the bike. Love it! I can tell you that the rider is definitely the weak link in the combination !

Start fitness have also been amazing. The price of the bike was low so I wondered whether it was too good to be true. But the bike arrived as expected after receiving a call from their delivery department. I also ordered and cancelled another item from them recently and their response was immediate and no quibble. I'm pretty slack of writing reviews, despite making use of them when buying. I felt compelled to do so here as I have been so impressed. (Posted on 21/08/2017)
Great plus bike! Review by Ari
Purchased this bike after some research to our daughter. She loves it! After a test drive also my wife wanted similar bike - she had a Salsa Mukluk fatbike, but this full suspension plus bike was a dream bike also for her. (Posted on 26/07/2017)
