REVIEW: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 17 Running Shoe
New season, new shoes and that means the latest model of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS have now been released!
Continuing their growth in popularity, the GTS runners are becoming the go-to shoe for those seeking support with not just their running but their feet, too.
The 17th generation of the Adrenaline series, have made subtle yet key improvements to the shoe to help to improve as well as sustain high level of comfort throughout your run.
The next improvement, is, once you get a hold of the shoes, the weight. The previous model weighed in at 314.7g, which may be considered a little on the bulky side, particular when high mileage is introduced – the last thing you want is your feet weighing you down at the penultimate stages of the race or training.
However, Brooks have reduced this year’s shoes by over 10g! That’s a huge difference in terms of lower PB’s, quicker reps and, most notably, lighter on your feet. It still carries the BioMoGo DNA Midsole qualities from its predecessors, adapting incredibly to different types of force when planted into the ground and also, supplies an impressive ‘30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials’ as an added bonus.
There is also the inclusion of their famous Full-Length Segmented Crash Pad, providing a very smooth transaction when going through the motions within the stride, from heel-to-toe, helping with the foot landing but also, making sure that a relevant amount of cushioning is delivered.
Each runner has their own unique style of running but getting the most of that method is a ticket to running quick, comfortable and hassle-free. At times, particular at the end of races, technique can go out the window or if it’s tough race too, the addition of the Progressive Diagonal Roll Bar negotiates with the runners style and aids with guiding it back into its national motion path. It doesn’t mean that it will try force you into running differently, it just means that, if you’re wavering slightly, the shoe’s technology here will get you back on track – clever, eh?
The upper, provides a very comfortable and breathable wrap for the foot. No-one wants an irritated/blistered foot, so it helps that Brooks have implemented the latest tech within the shoe to minimise this. You can notice this as soon as you tie the laces up, with the saddle and eyelets pulling from the heel to generate a snug fit, the motion of a foot moving is easily the worst, especially if you’re 10K into your run!
It’s safe to say that Brooks have stuck to their traditional set up to provide the best shoe they can for runners needing support with their flat arches or over pronation. If you’re new to running and looking for a shoe then this could be within a shout and a good replacement if you’re a loyal to the manufacturer.
